We prioritize sustainable practices to minimize our environmental footprint. All fish is line caught or harvested by hand to ensure the preservation of our oceans.

Here at BSR we also emphasize what happens with the fish after being caught. We do what we can to utilize the entire fish, not just the fillets. More of the fish used means less fish being caught.

Vermilion Rockfish is a versatile fish and a great lean protein option with a 6oz portion containing ~26g protein and only about 200 calories. Not to mention being high in potassium and omega 3s. In addition to all the nutritional benefits of Rockfish, it is delicious and easy to cook! Vermilion Rockfish, among other rockfish, is abundant here in California and across the West Coast and we are proud to have it as a staple for both our Select and Premium boxes.

They do, however, boast an incredible rich and buttery meat found not only in their tail but throughout almost their entire body. Boiled, baked, or grilled, it’s near impossible to mess up these delicious sea critters.

California has the most regulated lobster fishery in the world so you can enjoy your surf and turf without worrying about the sustainability of your meal. Californias season for Spiny Lobster goes from the beginning of October through mid March and will be available in the Premium boxes during these times. Come get them while you can! 🦞

Santa Barbara Red Sea Urchin + Purple Hotchi Sea Urchin are both plentiful on our coast here in California. The purple urchin are so plentiful that they’ve even been deemed a problem in regards to destroying our kelp forests.

Thankfully, both are DELICIOUS and available in our Premium boxes. Uni is considered a delicacy worldwide and we have some of the very best right here in our own backyard.
